The Amazon rainforest is alive; no place compares to it. The colors, sounds, and landscapes are unforgettable, and in the midst of it all is Hakuna Matata Amazon Lodge. In the province of Tena in Ecuador, our lodge will be your home while you explore and connect with the peace of nature on an unforgettable Ecuador Amazon jungle tour.
Walking along new trails, admiring the life in the line of tiny ants climbing a giant ceibo tree, and observing the hues of a sunset over the forest until the starry night arrives; that is luxury, the luxury of nature in Hakuna Matata Amazon.
Our cabins are designed to offer you the utmost warmth and rest during your Amazon rainforest trip. The entire lodge was built with eco-friendly materials and processes, subtly blending in without polluting the surroundings.
We have 19 rooms available for single, double, triple, and family accommodations to meet all your needs and expectations.
Each space in our lodge perfectly blends with the Amazon rainforest to offer you the best travel experience; splash in the pool, share experiences with fellow travelers at our reception, and enjoy a relaxing massage in our comfortable spa.
The lodge is located in a protected forest of 124 hectares, and each trail is available for you to explore and learn more about the wildlife that makes up this ecosystem. You can visit during rainforest excursions either during the day to spot birds and small mammals or walk at night when the sun sets, and insects and amphibians reign.
All of our food is prepared with local products, harvested by the friendly communities of Hakuna Matata Amazon Lodge to contribute to a fair and circular economy.
Our pool is quite unique, shaped like a large palm tree unfolding amidst the lodge’s cabins. Children can play and have fun while their parents relax around it, laughing and enjoying cold drinks, without a care in the world!
Eighteen years ago, three families who fell in love with the Ecuadorian Amazon acquired 124 hectares of a distressed forest that belonged to a cattle ranch that had invaded the ecosystem.
After a long collaborative effort with the local community, we began a conservation and reforestation project called Hakuna Matata Amazon Lodge.
Over time, our message has spread, and more people have joined us in our work. The lodge staff, belonging to the Chaupishungo and La Libertad communities, are in constant training and learning to keep us at the forefront of global tourism while prioritizing sustainability and forest conservation.
The land that was once deteriorated has now regenerated. Thanks to our efforts, those of the community, and our visitors, it has become a healthy, beautiful, and growing secondary forest. While the goal of Hakuna Matata has been achieved, our dreams have grown larger, and the objective now is to promote the value of sustainable tourism so that more and more hectares of the Amazon rainforest can regenerate.
